因道奇宿敵舊金山巨人隊今天作客聖地牙哥戰教士3比4吞敗，這支國聯西區的勁旅若能主場擊敗科羅拉多洛磯隊就能分區稱霸。
不過這場比賽道奇贏得並不輕鬆，9局下2人出局，輪由席格（Corey Seager）打擊，他是隊史單季最多全壘打的游擊手，振臂一揮陽春全壘打追平比數，把比賽帶進延長。
10局下又是2人出局，輪由今年才從洛磯改投效道奇的柯貝生（Charlie Culberson）站上打擊區。此前柯貝生今年球季的全壘打還沒開張，生涯也只有5支全壘打。
但是關鍵時刻他把球拉向左外野，再見全壘打柯貝生讓老東家飲恨，史卡利（Vin Scully）以一貫平穩語調說，道奇打得掙扎，最後仍按計畫順利封王，也為他最後1次在道奇主場服務球迷，畫下完美句點。
由於右門神葛蘭基（Zack Greinke）改穿亞利桑那響尾蛇的戰袍，加上總教練也換人，今年球季道奇能否蟬聯國聯西區王座原本不被看好，甚至季中曾一度落後宿敵巨人8場勝差。
但是道奇仍不放棄急起直追，雖然王牌左投克蕭（Clayton Kershaw）因椎間盤突出，7月間開始休養2個月餘，但期間58場比賽道奇34勝24負，奠定分區封王的利基。
道奇連續第4年稱霸國聯西區，這也是道奇隊史第15次在國聯西區封王，而原先是教士板凳教練的羅伯茲（Dave Roberts），首次執掌道奇兵符就帶領球隊粉碎一堆懷疑的眼光，猶如他2010年力抗淋巴癌病魔的傳奇。
